How we merged BarCampMalaysia and DrupalCampKualaLumpur

When I started probing the Malaysian Drupal community a while back about the viability of organizing a DrupalCamp in Kuala Lumpur in July, many people were enthusiastic but not so many were able to find the time or energy to pitch in.

I still felt like going ahead – the challenge of remotely getting an event up and running was just too much fun to let go.

BarCampMalaysia with a little bit of DrupalCamp thrown in

BarCampMalaysia is coming up real soon now, with little under 3 weeks to go. The two-day event will take place on July 26 and 27 in Kuala Lumpur, capital of one of the technologically most rapidly evolving regions in the world.

Belgium, what in the FSM's delicious name are you doing?

Do I hold all the answers? No.
Does that mean I’m not allowed to rant? No.

Here goes.

Paris Drupal Meetup, Monday June 30th

The next Paris Drupal Meetup is set to take place on Monday June 30th, 18:30 at La Cantine (google map), the same place where DrupalCampParis took place a few months ago.

It’s interesting to see the French/Parisian Drupal scene grow and organize itself so rapidly. If you’re in the neighborhood, come by and help us help the Drupal community.

NRC Handelsblad: marketing-savvy, Drupal-friendly, delightfully geeky all-around nice guys

NRC Handelsblad is one of The Netherlands’ most prominent and influential news papers. In collaboration with the Krimsonians they recently launched nrcboeken.nl, an extension to their main web presence aimed at becoming the number one literary reference site in The Netherlands.

I’ve little doubt they’ll succeed given the editorial and technical teams backing the project.

The comments have resumed work.

The comments on this blog have been out of order for a few weeks, but as of today, they’re back in business.

I’ve been using this site as a test environment for Drupal 6 from 6.0 beta 2 up to 6.1. Along the way I’ve been tinkering and patching and I guess somewhere along the way, things got clogged around the time I installed the Mollom client.

T-DOSE, Technical Dutch Open Source Event, is a free, yearly event dedicated to promoting the use and development of Open Source Software. It’ll be held in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) on 25 and 26 October 2008.

This year, T-DOSE is generously offering room for a dedicated Drupal track. Thanks, T-dosians!

Drupal + imagecache + Invalid image dimensions error?

Imagecache was dutifully scaling images without any problems, when suddenly this error started popping up:

warning: imagecreatetruecolor() [function.imagecreatetruecolor]:
Invalid image dimensions [...]

It started when I added an extra action to one of my imachecache presets: after scaling to a fixed width, I wanted to crop to a fixed height while keeping the previously attained width.

To scale to a fixed width, you need to enter the target width and keep the height blank. Quite straightforward.

Dries, Drupal, Acquia and Mollom featured in Belgian career magazine Jobat

This weekend’s edition of career magazine Jobat has a Dutch two page article featuring Dries, Drupal, Acquia and Mollom.

I’m particularly impressed with the clear and easy language used to describe what Drupal is, what Acquia will be doing and what Mollom has to do with anything.
