Kuala Lumpur Drupal community kicking off

A little over a month ago a cool Drupal project brought me to Kuala Lumpur. I set out to organize a DrupalCamp while I was there but the Malaysian Drupal community was not really showing any signs of life.

Najibx, the single Drupal developer that did actually respond, agreed we would downscale it to a Drupal track at BarcampMalaysia.

The turnout was surprisingly good: 30 people on average showed for each Drupal session.

So I checked back with Najibx who took the lead in reigniting the local Drupal community: turns out drupal.my and the Bahasa Malaysia Drupal 6 translation are rapidly progressing, and the number of active members is growing.

Much awesomeness indeed.

We've recently experienced

We've recently experienced the same thing in Hong Kong. Our number of active participants was 2 up until BarCamp HK where we met about 20 other Drupal users that hadn't yet discovered the group on g.d.o.

That is so cool. Good

That is so cool. Good job!

I've come to realize that all it really takes is a few people taking the lead to get things in motion.

Are there any follow-up events planned, like a user meetup in a bar or a tech session in a university or company lab somewhere?

I'd love to track to evolution of the HK community - please keep in touch.

Joeri, Again, my appreciation

Joeri,
Again, my appreciation for taking ur time in the BarCamp Malaysia. Yes, while the number of of members are increasing, I notice the participation from the community is still low. I will keep continue to promote Drupal in malaysia !

I welcome you again, and others to meet up in malaysia !
